I’ve been part of a book club for years, and some of the books I’ve loved most are ones I never would have chosen for myself. That’s part of the fun of reading: discovering a story you weren’t looking for and suddenly finding yourself completely lost in it.
The Bookshelf is where I’ll share these discoveries: books I’ve loved, book club favorites, thrillers I couldn’t put down, and a few beautiful finds that make settling in with a good book even better.
Pour a glass of wine, find a comfortable chair, and stay awhile.

AN ALL-TIME FAVORITE
The Correspondent
by Virginia Evans
This is one of those rare books I loved enough to experience twice. Beautifully written, thoughtful, and completely memorable, I finished it and then went back and listened to it all over again. It has earned a permanent place on my bookshelf.
A BOOK CLUB SURPRISE
The Measure
by Nikki Erlick
This was a book club pick I probably never would have chosen for myself, and it ended up being one of my favorite reads. The premise is fascinating, but it’s the questions the story raises about life, love, choice, and how we spend the time we’re given that stayed with me.
A CAN’T-PUT-IT-DOWN THRILLER
Verity
by Colleen Hoover
This one is dark, twisted, and nearly impossible to put down. I kept telling myself one more chapter, and we all know how that goes! Verity is unsettling in the best way, with the kind of story that keeps you questioning what you believe right up to the end. Definitely not a cozy little bedtime read…unless you’re prepared to stay up far later than you planned.
THE PERFECT BEACH READ
The Five-Star Weekend
by Elin Hilderbrand
This is exactly the kind of book I want in my beach bag. Set on Nantucket, The Five-Star Weekend brings together friendship, loss, secrets, complicated relationships, and second chances., It’s an easy, absorbing read with enough heart and drama to keep the pages turning. And now that it’s been made into a series, it’s the perfect time to read the book before, or after, you watch.

MEAGAN CHURCH
This is one of those books I’m still thinking about. Heartbreaking at times, especially knowing how women were actually treated during this period, with characters I loved, and a few I really didn’t. And just when I thought I knew where the story was going… I didn’t. This would be such a good book club pick because there is so much to talk about afterward.
